Look Into The Mirror

When you look into a mirror... tell me...what do you see?

On your critical days...do you see the lines in your face, perhaps some acne, or maybe scars?

On your best days... do you see something wonderful?

What do you see when you look into the mirror?

James 1:22-25
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

In James, we see the Word of God described in terms of a mirror. When we read the Bible and do not apply it to our lives, it is like looking into a mirror and forgetting what we look like.

When we are hearers and doers of the Word, we take a good, hard look at ourselves through the perspective of God's word. We come to an understanding of who we are and how much we need the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We grow in the knowledge of our God.

And, the more we look into that mirror... the more the face that looks back at us has the likeness of our Savior.

We must look into the mirror, regularly. It is sometimes brutal, sometimes comforting ...but it is always for our good.

Take a look.
