Interview Requests

I was asked to be a guest on the GodTalk program on terrestrial radio in Canada hosted by the Rock and Roll "Preacha." In case you are wondering, I have never done an interview regarding the programs that I host. I never will.

A few years ago, I did several interviews. Once I was on the Steve Bonenberger Show which is nationally syndicated and I appeared on Monster Radio which was also syndicated in over 50 AM radio markets across the US. The difference was that I was there to promote a book.

However, I have created clear rules for myself while I am a host/interviewer. I take my job very seriously and the last thing that I want to do is to state my opinions for the record. To do so would remove the veil of objectivity. Now, there are certain things I will state on my show as to my opinion, i.e. my belief that Jesus Christ was and is the Son of God, that He died for my sins (and yours) and rose again on the third day. That is not a secret when I interview.

All the other stuff, I keep a close lid on. It may even surprise you if I were to share my opinion about many of the issues that go back and forth on the internet and blogs everywhere. Do I give my opinion on my blog? I have and I regret it. Because, most of this stuff can be filed as "theory" and not "Doctrine." These are two separate things. For me to weigh in on a certain issue is to take a side and that doesn't work very well when you are interviewing varied opinions. So, I have done that but it wasn't prudent on my part. I have been trying to get away from personal opinion lately. Or, at least, to make it less obvious- I'm never going to try to steer people in the wrong direction by appearing aloof- I just want to maintain a certain level of objectivity. In terms of most blog posts- Usually, I am merely posting the opinion of others by way of cut and pasting articles. I am glad to cement Christian doctrine within my blog but, moving forward, you won't see many theories that I throw out there as fact (i.e. the never ending pre-trib vs. mid-trib, etc etc ad nauseum).

All in all, I strive for integrity in how I present the show. I may slip sometimes and blur the lines. If so, I always try to get back to the core foundation of how I present media. As I stated before, I take it very seriously.

I came from radio. I was a book reviewer on Monster Radio. My "style" and philosophy were forged in those days. The greatest compliment ever received was that my 'gimmick' was actually stolen by Adam Corolla's program when he took over for Howard Stern on AM/ FM radio (yes, he had a book reviewer on his program doing it exactly the way I did after guest hosting on Monster Radio).

I am always careful to make sure that things I write are not construed as a criticism of anyone. It is not because it would be a perfectly different scenario if I would have started a show after doing numerous interviews about the New World Order or Bible Prophecy. That's different. But, since my primary function (and my passion) is hosting, interviewing and drawing out the best in people , then I see that if I express myself that it lessens what I do. That's how I view it.

It is also true that I have done shows where I have used the hour to express a personal opinion (having done so on The Big Finale). However, I think that was a mistake. It is a very difficult, fine line. A few times I was forced to do shows like that because guests cancelled so I had no choice but to delve into personal beliefs surrounding topics that are prevalent in the program.

Probably the one person I would be a guest for would be Alex Jones (won't specify why). But, Alex probably hasn't heard of me at this point.

For the record, I am striving to be guest driven on Acceleration Radio.

While I am honored for these types of invitations to be offered, I do not want to place my integrity in jeopardy. You wouldn't see (or shouldn't see) a news anchor violently taking sides (ok, we do but it is not appropriate) on an issue.

Thanks for these types of requests because it really speaks to the power of alternative media.
